What does obsolete application & device driver mean & what is this software? ( See below)?

I have a three year old Dell computer with windows XP. I did a computer information status & one of the messages was obsolete application & device driver. Also it showed page after page of software. Some are as follows: xmlprovi, wups, wuaueng, wshisn, wpdconns, wbdbase, termsrv & msvcp70. What does all of that mean?
