Going by the Old Testament?
It's not that we don't go by the Old Testament anymore. It is part of the old covenant of God before Jesus came to earth. We don't live under the old Testament. God hasn't changed the covenant has for our sake when Jesus came to earth and was crucified. In the Old Testament it talks of sacrificing goats and things to God for forgiveness of our sins. The new covenant uses Jesus blood when he was the ultimate sacrifice for our sins. So, we as believers don't live under the Jewish laws of the Old Testament. We don't stone people to death or kill goats and splash their blood on the altars of our churches. Jesus paid the price for us in the New Testament. This is what we mean by not living out the Old Testament. God's 10 Commandments still play a role in our lives. Jesus didn't come to change them, but to add to them.
